Introducing the MEAN WELL RSD-500 Railway DC to DC Converters

9 April 2021
New product from MEAN WELL Australia

The first shipment of MEAN WELL’s RSD-500 500-Watt railway DC to DC converters are due to arrive into Australia during October 2020.

These new DC to DC converters have been tested and certified to railway standard EN50155, as well as the telecommunications electrical safety standard AS/NZS62368 and EMC standard EN55032.

This makes them perfect for use on locomotives, rolling stock, and passenger cars, as well as many other automotive & industrial applications, where resistance to vibration and shock is required.

The most used input voltages in railway applications are: 24VDC, 36VDC, 48VDC, 72VDC, 96VDC, and 110VDC. All are covered within the range of RSD-500 models.

There are three output voltages available: 12VDC, 24VDC, and 48VDC all of which can be adjusted up to 15% above the rated output voltage. This is particularly useful for compensating for voltage drop over longer runs of cable.

With 4000VDC I/O reinforced isolation, the RSD-500 series DC to DC converters are also ideal for providing additional system isolation in DC UPS and battery voltage regulator applications.

All models have a wide operating temperature, with no derating below 55°C and are backed by a manufacturer’s 3-year warranty.
